First Gardening Challenge of the Year

I had an unexpected issue at my house yesterday. We’ve been getting some pretty strong winds last the couple of days and yesterday’s gusts up to 60mph were just too much for the power grid (another reason why I’m looking forward to moving off the grid in the next year or so).

My house lost power for a good 12 hours. Normally not an issue but I recently started germinating my pepper seeds for my garden. And pepper seeds are picky.

Despite the fact that they had no light and more importantly, lost the heating pad for those hours, I’m hoping that the germination process wasn’t too badly disturbed and that I don’t have to start over again.

Have you had a power outage effect your early seed starting? If so, where there ways that you tried to keep heat around your plants?
